Meet Our New Starts from March

Every Month we like to introduce our newest members across the Scot JCB Group with a short introductory blog. This month we had 7 new members join across the group working in a variety of roles. Read more about them below:

Harley Wilkie - IT Manager - Glasgow

What did you do before joining Scot JCB?

I was Group Business Systems Manager at Star Refrigeration Ltd. My main responsibility was managing our IFS ERP system. This involved, training users, user support, developing and managing the use of the system. I worked there for over 14 years with various roles during that time.

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

I could see that Scot JCB are a successful company. From my initial interview, it was clear that my opinion would be valued and there was an ambition to take advantage of the latest technologies.

What are you looking forward to the most in your role?

Building a solid IT team and ensuring the business gets the best use possible from their investment in IFS.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?

Spending time with my Wife & 3-year-old son. I practice Taekwond-do 3 times per week. I also like a casual bit of online gaming when my son goes to bed!

When you were younger, what was your dream job?

I thought about training to become an Architect when I was younger, but then I realised it was 7 years of study! Shortly after entering the workplace, I realised my desire to get involved in IT and Business Systems.

Who would be your 3 ideal dinner guests, past or present?

Steve Carrell (Michael Scott from US Office), Will Ferrell (As Ron Burgundy) and Stone Cold Steve Austin!

What's an interesting fact about you that people might not know when they first meet you?

I am a 3rd Degree Blackbelt in Taekwondo. I have competed internationally for Scotland and won 3 x Scottish and 2 x British Championships.

Ryan Docherty - Parts Sales Advisor - SIA Aberdeen

What did you do before joining SIA?

I worked as a parts advisor in the motor trade and sales before that.

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

Scot JCB/SIA seems like a great company to work for, and I always like the challenge of learning new environments and systems.

What are you looking forward to the most in your role?

Getting stuck in, becoming an established part of the team, and building a good rapport with customers and staff.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?

I enjoy watching football, especially Newcastle as I am an avid supporter and I get down to games as much as possible. I also like going on trips and exploring Scotland and the rest of the world when possible.

When you were younger, what was your dream job?

A rally driver or an RAF Pilot.

Who would be your 3 ideal dinner guests, past or present?

It’s hard to narrow it down to 3, but probably Kendrick Lamar, Jeremy Clarkson & Alan Shearer.

What's an interesting fact about you that people might not know when they first meet you?

I’m 24 years old now and I have still never broken/fractured a bone to my amazement as I was a very active kid with no fear and I still am.

Lewis Reilly - Service Engineer - Kelso

What did you do before joining Scot Agri?

I worked at Lloyd Ltd on new Holland tractors beforehand

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

Attracted to a variety of machinery to work on and a better work environment

What are you looking forward to the most in your role?

Gaining experience and knowledge of JCB machines

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?

Watch rugby games and socialise on weekends 

When you were younger, what was your dream job?

My dream job was to be a rugby player

Who would be your 3 ideal dinner guests, past or present?

Ideal dinner guests would be Michael Jackson, Finn Russell, Hugh Jackman

What's an interesting fact about you that people might not know when they first meet you?

I once solved a Rubix cube in under 30 seconds

 

Kelvin Coker - Service Engineer - Huntly

What did you do before joining Scot Agri? 

I’ve been an agricultural engineer since leaving school at 16. I done my apprenticeship and worked on New Holland machinery for around 13 years. I also spent 2 and a half years working on Mercedes Unimogs. 

What attracted you to come and work in your role? 

I was attracted to Scot JCB for their good reputation, investment in their employees and to be able to work alongside a good team at Huntly depot.  

What are you looking forward to the most in your role? 

Learning about the JCB and Massey Ferguson products.  

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do? 

In my spare time, I follow banger racing and restoring my cars.  

When you were younger, what was your dream job? 

When I was younger I wanted to be a car mechanic. 

Who would be your 3 ideal dinner guests, past or present? 

Ricky Gervais, Jason Jackson (boxer Jack National banger driver, Chris Allen (professional struggler) 

What's an interesting fact about you that people might not know when they first meet you? 

I am a bit of a hoarder, I can’t throw anything away because you never know when it might come in handy.
