Meet Willie Russell

Willie joined us in January as our new Group Agricultural Specialist, working across Scot JCB, A M Phillip Agritech and Kelso & Lothian Harvesters.

PAST EXPERIENCE

Willie joins us with a wealth of Agricultural experience, his most recent role as a Farm Manager for a large broccoli, cereal and potato farm in Fife. However, his parents own an arable and turf farm in Easter Ross which he managed for four years before moving down to Fife. “I’ve been around machines all of my life and I’ve always been very interested in new technology within Agriculture. My previous experience has given me the skills necessary to hit the ground running in this new role.”

WHY THE SCOT JCB GROUP?

As previously mentioned, Willie has a huge interest in farming machinery and technology, however in 2019 he was invited to the JCB Factory in a previous role, “it was the final nail in the coffin to convince me to buy a Fastrac 4220, it was great to see a British made machine. During the trip I realised how happy and friendly the Scot JCB Group employees were and I thought they must be a great company to work for.”

"NO BETTER FEELING"

Willie is most looking forward to showing off our new machines to new and existing customers, “there’s no better feeling than the day a new tractor arrives on a farm, whether it’s on demo or brand new. It’s like Christmas Day for a farmer, and I’m speaking from experience!”

JCB FASTRAC 4220

“My favourite product is the Fastrac 4220, the efficiency and comfort are a huge advantage to me, everyone knows a comfortable worker will be more likely to put in the extra hours when needed!”

“The new JCB 532-60 Is a fantastic product too, especially with the new series III cab.  Operator comfort is again, in my opinion, the best in the JCB telehandlers. I am also looking forward to doing more work with the new Massey Ferguson 8 series tractors.  They look like a very good machine.”

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Willie will be keeping very busy outside of work too, alongside his wife he breeds Valais Blacknose Sheep and will be starting to lamb in April and if that isn’t enough, they are also due their first child in April too!
