Last month Scot JCB customer Hireline took delivery of their 50th JCB excavator. Hireline, based in Midlothian, have been providing plant and tool hire services to local councils, major construction companies, ground works contracts and more since 2010. We caught up with Managing Director Pat McCluskey to congratulate him on this milestone, find out about his relationship with Scot JCB and what he has planned for the future.

Pat and Hireline are finding life coming out of the pandemic “absolutely manic, up 25% on plan for the year and still not able to fulfil every order.” This of course is welcomed return after what was obviously a difficult 2020 which seen construction in Scotland shut down for three months. “The three months at start of lockdown were very difficult and we obviously lost a lot of revenue. We’ve been busy since returning and have really kicked on this year. I think the hardest part of it all was staying positive through all the uncertainty and different challenges. Finance payment holidays and furlough helped get us through and with now being so busy I’m still wary the bubble may burst as such but hopeful it will continue this way.”

Scot JCB have been doing business with Hireline since they formed in 2010 which Pat puts down to the great relationships he has with our employees and the back-up provided, “David Stevenson and Scott Logan are two good guys to deal with and they’re the main reason we come back. Added to very good back up from Service and the off-the shelf parts availability Scot JCB stays ahead of others.” With 114 JCB machines in their fleet Pat states that it is the people and the reliability of the machines that keeps Hireline coming back to the JCB brand and to the aftersales of Scot JCB.

Looking to the future Hireline are looking to invest in electric as the regulations around diesel change and there is a greater need and want for a greener alternative.

Thanks again for your continued business, Pat and Hireline, we look forward to doing business with you again soon.
