Meet Our New Apprentices

In June we welcomed our new apprentices for 2021! Meet our new recruits and find out why they picked an apprenticeship with the Scot JCB Group. 

Harry Baxter

Alnwick Depot

Harry’s grandfather was a Mechanical Engineer for the PNLI for 30 years, which is where his interest in becoming a Service Engineer came from. He is most looking forward to learning new skills and meeting new people and outside of work he enjoys boxing and spending time with friends.

Kieran Warwick

Carlisle Depot

Kieran has grown up around farms and has always been interested in how they work. He is looking forward to the variety of machines he will be able to work on. Outside of work he likes playing computer games and is currently building a remote-controlled buggy.

Tyler Hackett

Carnforth Depot

Tyler applied for an apprenticeship with Scot JCB as it means he can learn and work at the same time instead of being stuck in a classroom all the time. He is really looking forward to getting put to work and getting fully qualified. When he is not at work, he enjoys football and rugby and repairing mobile phones.

Cameron Rice

Forfar Depot

Cameron has a real interested in machines and is excited to learn new things during his apprenticeship. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Hunter Ashforth

Huntly Depot

Hunter was brought up around agricultural machinery and is looking forward to learning all about how the machines work. Outside of work he helps his dad with joinery work and friends with their farms.

Finn Sandison

Haddington Depot

Finn had always enjoyed working in a workshop and has a keen eye for fixing machinery. He is looking forward to the training and when he is not working, he enjoys walking his dog and fixing up cars.

James Neish

Aberdeen Depot

James is looking forward to learning new skills and getting to know colleagues in the Aberdeen depot. He has always been interested in how machines work and wants to learn skills he can use later in life. In his spare time he enjoys watching football and helping his dad on the farm.

Shaun Sangster

Fraserburgh Depot

Shaun has always wanted to be a mechanic and has grown up on a farm so felt like this was a great opportunity for him. Shaun has always worked with older machines so is excited about working with some of the newer technology. When he isn’t working, he enjoys playing football, going on bike rides and even camping, if the weather is nice!

Blair McKinnon

Perth Depot

Blair wanted to be a Scot JCB Group apprentice as he was looking for something more than a regular mechanic apprenticeship and really wanted to work on bigger machines. He’s most looking forward to learning all about how the machines work and enjoys going out with friends and working on cars in his spare time.

Hamish Stenshouse

Kelso Depot

Hamish applied for his apprenticeship to learn new skills and is looking forward to meeting new people and learning more about mechanics. In his spare time, he plays rugby and spends time with family and friends.

Ryan Purvis 

Newcastle Depot

Living on a farm Ryan has been brought up around machines and always enjoyed giving an extra pair of hands if anything goes wrong. He is most looking forward to getting his own van at Scot JCB and going out onsite to service machines. Outside of work Ryan helps out as often as he can on the farm and in his spare time also plays rugby union for Blaydon RFC and rugby league for Gateshead Storm. 

Thomas Williamson

Glasgow Depot

Thomas decided to pursue an apprenticeship as a plant engineer as I came from a background in plant where he had been around machines all of his life. Thomas added "I decided that Scot JCB would be perfect for me and a great place to serve my time as I had only heard good things about the place."

He's most looking forward to learning new skills especially working on different machines than he is as familiar with and outside of work he likes to enjoy the outdoors with my dog when going camping and fishing.

Cole Hamilton

Glasgow Depot

Cole wanted to do an Engineer Apprenticeship because he has worked with my dad and enjoyed it. He is  looking forward to learning more about how the machines work and develop new skills within engineering and when he is not working he likes to go out on his motocross bike

I like to go out on my motocross bike at the weekends
