Welcome Our New Recruits!


Five new staff members started with The Scot JCB Group in the month of October. After settling into their new roles, we caught up with each of them to find out a bit more.

Nicole Moan is the newest member of the HR team and has settled nicely into her role as an HR Advisor based in Glasgow. After graduating from university, Nicole started her career as a Recruitment Consultant. However, it was apparent that HR was where Nicole wanted to work. She managed to secure an HR role a year later. She has since completed a post graduate diploma in HR Management and worked for several private and third sector organisations.

What attracted you to the role?

The chance to work for a successful, family-run, Scottish business.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

Working in an internal HR team again with the opportunity to work on different projects.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to spend time with my 18-month-old son (who likes to keep me on my toes), friends and family. I love being outdoors, eating out and keeping fit (to make up for the eating out!).

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

“The organised one”

What TV show do you binge watch?

I am currently watching Succession, American Crime Story and The Morning Show. Shows I binge watch on repeat are Friends, The US Office and Schitts Creek.

Wayne Richardson joined the team of engineers in Newcastle last month and has been in the plant machinery industry for the past 10 years. Wayne completed an apprenticeship after leaving school and has since worked for multiple companies in the construction industry.

What attracted you to the role?

Getting to work for a main dealership and a big brand name like JCB which to me could be a once in a lifetime opportunity which is an offer I couldn't refuse. I've always wanted to do something like this in my career and I'm looking forward to the future and this chapter in my life. After speaking with my supervisor, Michael, I was excited he gave me the opportunity to join his team in the Newcastle depot and all the lads are great.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I am hoping to settle into the company and retire here. I am looking forward to learning more and becoming more experienced than I am today. I'm a person that is willing the learn and I really appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities in this new role. I am also looking forward to possible training offered by the company.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to spend time with my two boys. They enjoy sports such as motocross, so I like to have fun with them and participate in their hobbies and interests. I just generally enjoy family time.

How would your friends use to describe you?

I would say people would describe me as is a quiet, trustworthy, hardworking, outgoing, and good to be around, well I think anyways 😆 

What TV show do you binge watch?

TV is a something that I never get much time to watch but I do love my football. I’m a Newcastle supporter and I love to watch mixed martial arts and boxing, usually sky sports news is on half the time! I do watch some YouTube and occasionally the odd movie with the kids but I'm a bit boring for the TV department to be honest.

 

Tim Sexton joined us last month as a remote engineer and will cover the Bristol area. He has extensive experience on a variety of machines from lawnmowers to a Challenger 2 tanks and most things in-between including locomotives, trains and race trucks.

What attracted you to the role?

The attraction to the role was a new challenge and working for a well-established company with a quality product.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I'm looking forward to working with a great team of engineers and support staff.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I visit steam and preserved railways, agricultural and heavy horse shows and enjoy watching rugby union. I like weekend breaks exploring the countryside in the UK.

How would your friends use to describe you?

The three words my friends use to describe me are reliable, conscientious and trustworthy.

What TV show do you binge watch?

At the moment I'm binge watching The Sopranos, Criminal Minds, Impossible Engineering and How Do They Do That.

Brian McGuff joined the parts department in Edinburgh last month as a Parts Sales Advisor. His previous experience working with vehicles and in customer service meant he was very well suited to his new role. 

What attracted you to the role?

I was interested in the role due to my previous experience and interests. I was also ready for a new challenge.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I am most looking forward to learning new skills and working with new people.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I referee rugby and am involved in a local Scout Group.

What TV show do you binge watch?

The Big Bang Theory!

 

Mark Jones joined the team in Glenrothes as a Sales Engineer this month and will cover the whole of Fife. Marks previous experience includes nine years as a Sales/Commercial Manager and five years with an agricultural manufacturer.

What attracted you to the role?  

I enjoy working within the agriculture sector, and this is a new challenge within that sector for me. 

What are you looking forward to about the role?  

Mostly learning about the products and meeting the customers. I am excited to show off the newest range of JCB loadalls to farmers in the area.

What do you like to do in your spare time?  

In my spare time I take my son to play football for his team and spend time with my wife, friends and family. Oh and the dog!!

How would your friends describe you?  

Family man, Reliable. The organised one.

What TV shows do you binge watch?  

Don’t really watch much TV, mainly just football or other sports.
