Welcome to Our Newest Recruits

The first month of 2022 has seen five new members of staff join Scot JCB Group. Richard Archer and Robert Small both joined our team of engineers at our Alnwick and Edinburgh depots. James McManus is our new Systems Analyst in Glasgow, John Strachan is our new Service Supervisor in Muir of Ord and Cameron Nisbet joined the parts department in Haddington as a Trainee Parts Advisor.

To get to know our newest recruits a bit better we asked them to introduce themselves and tell us a bit about their previous experience, what excites them about their new role and how they like to spend their free time.

Robert Small- Service Engineer , Edinburgh

What attracted you to the role?

The opportunity to work with Scot JCB excited me and it just felt like the right fit for me and my career.

What is your previous experience?

I have trained and worked in agriculture for over 16 years. Over the years I have worked with Massey Ferguson, New Holland, John Deere, Kubota, and Merlo brands, gaining experience in these specific brands as well as the industry as a whole.

What are you looking forward to about your new role?

I am looking forward to working on JCB products and gaining more experience and knowledge of the brand.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

When I’m not in the workshop or on site, I love spending time with my wife, son, our Labrador and two working cocker spaniels. I enjoy my family time spent at the caravan when we get the chance to get away. More recently during covid you will find me doing plenty of DIY projects in the garden and around the house.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Outgoing, ambitious and witty

What TV shows do you binge watch?

Chicago Fire, Med and PD, Peaky Blinders.

Cameron Nisbet- Trainee Parts Advisor - Haddington

What attracted you to the role?

I was attracted to this particular role due to my interest in agriculture and working within this industry. I also felt it was a good fit working in the parts department as I have had some previous experience as a store man in the past.

What are you looking forward to about your new role?

I am looking forward to learning about each of the brands and parts we stock.

  • At our Haddington depot we sell JCB, Massey Ferguson, Ktwo, Berthoud, Horsch, BvL and Rolland

How do you like to spend your spare time?

I like to go to the football and out with my friends in my spare time.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Funny, good looking, smart

What tv shows do you binge watch?

Still Game and Benidorm

James McManus- Systems Analyst, Glasgow

What attracted you to the role?

The opportunity to build Scot JCB’s data systems and reporting as we move onto the new IFS system. With Data as a focus point, we can help the business make smart, data-driven decisions and drive key metrics based on historical data! (It’s exciting to me, OK!?)

What is your previous experience?

I’ve been working in data and business analysis for 3+ years. In the past I have worked with data around debt management and recovery, as well as contact centre environments that focused on driving customer contact and engagement.

What are you looking forward to in your new role?

I’m most looking forward to getting to know the business by having conversations with people from different departments about their data needs and working to provide outcomes for them that can make their jobs easier and even more productive!

How do you like to spend your spare time?

My fiancée and I are very into gaming and spend a lot of time (especially during lockdown!) playing games together, particularly story-driven ones we can enjoy almost like a movie! I also play in a few local bands, covering artists like Elvis and The Rolling Stones!

What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?

Laid-Back (is that one word?), Driven and (I think), Funny!

What TV shows do you binge watch?

At the moment we’re doing a full watch through of Malcolm In The Middle, which has been nostalgic! Some of my favourite shows are Firefly and Red Dwarf! The new Marvel shows have also been surprisingly good!

Richard Archer- Service Engineer , Alnwick

What attracted you to the role?

After seeing the role advertised online, I was interested but Wayne from Newcastle depot had also informed me about it as well. I have previously worked for other companies working on agri equipment in the past so felt this role would be a good fit.

What are you looking forward to about your new role?

I am looking forward to working alongside the team and getting to know the JCB brand and machines.
