Meet Our Newest Recruits


Every month we catch up with our newest recruits to find out a bit more about them. We are delighted to say that in April we had 11 new members join the Scot JCB Group family.

 

David Fortune – Kelso – Sales Engineer

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

Something I have always fancied my family have a large farming background with lots of agricultural heritage. I needed a new role that would give me a challenge and I feel this role will do exactly that. I have really enjoyed my first month.

What is your previous experience?

My main previous work was in a customer service role within the car trade, but I have also spent some time in car sales.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

Gaining experience, meeting new people, and learning lots about the fantastic products we sell.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have 6-year-old twin boys so I, spend a lot of time with them and my partner. I coach their football team and play a bit of football with my mates on a Wednesday night. I play the bagpipes when I get time and sometimes swing the odd golf club.

What TV show do you binge watch?

I don’t get time but if I had the remote, I would be watching sport.

 

Michael Ferrier – Apprentice Engineer – Glenrothes

 


 

What attracted you to the role?

I’ve got experience with motorbikes and helped my grandad fix cars when he's had homers to do so thought I’d do something different but still to do with mechanics.

What is your previous experience?

I don't have any experience in agricultural machinery but got some experience with cars and motorbikes that I’m sure I can use.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I’m most looking forward to learning about hydraulics and learning about all of the different machines we service.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time at the weekends, I do motocross, I play in a pipe band, and also I am part of a bike club too, so we meet and go for a run when the weather is nice.

What TV show do you binge watch?

I don’t watch a lot of TV.

 

Andrew Sandison – Haddington – Parts Sales Advisor

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

I wanted to work for a well-known and respected brand.

What is your previous experience?

I previously worked for an agricultural dealer in the parts department.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I’m excited to get learning about new products and working with the staff at Haddington.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

A bit of cooking, walking my dogs and riding my motorbike when the weather permits.

What TV show do you binge watch?

Whatever my wife watches! MotoGP when given the chance.

 

Nathan Elrick – Fraserburgh – Service Supervisor

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

The opportunity to progress my skills and climb a few steps on the career ladder. That can be difficult in the agricultural career path.

What is your previous experience?

I was previously an agricultural mechanic for the last 12 years at a different dealer.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I’m looking forward to managing and keeping a busy team supplying a top service to our customers

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I like to work on my small family farm helps use up any spare time!

What TV show do you binge watch?

Not a big fan of tv to be honest but I do enjoy watching this farming life on BBC iPlayer from time to time

 

Thomas Knibb – Kelso – Sales Engineer

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

After working in the agricultural industry for 13 years, I was keen to broaden my ambitions and take my career to the next level.

What is your previous experience?

I worked on a large mixed farm (arable, livestock) for 13 years in Northamptonshire. So have gained a lot of practical experience, plus knowledge of the Agricultural industry over the time I was there.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

Meeting customers and landowners, expanding my knowledge of farming industry.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I'm an avid supporter of Northampton Saints rugby team, I also very much enjoy country sports including clay pigeon shooting amongst others.

 What TV show do you binge watch?

Top gear, The grand tour, Clarkson's Farm and old British comedy. Plus, many farming YouTube channels.

 

Callum Sim – Forfar – Apprentice Engineer

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

I have always wanted work in agriculture.

What is your previous experience?

I have completed a pathway to apprenticeship course at Angus training group.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I am looking forward to being able to see how the machines work and learning about how to work with them.

What do you do in your spare time?

I spend time with my grandad on Saturday morning.

What TV show do you binge watch?

Still game.

 

Luke Shaw – Forfar – Sales Engineer

 

 

What attracted you to the role?

What attracted me too the role was it’s something I’ve always had an interest in growing up and a new challenge.

What is your previous experience?

My previous experience was sales in the motor trade, which was similar to this, so it’ll help me hit the ground running.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone in my area, meeting both current customers and prospective customers. I am also looking forward to going down to the JCB factory.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I do a lot of mountain biking

Sandra Easton – Edinburgh – Depot Administrator

 

 

What attracted me to the role?

I have been keen to get back into an admin role closer to home

What is your previous experience?

I have had similar post in various sectors from tool sales to advertising

What am I looking forward to about the role?

Being able to navigate a completely new sector and computer system.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Getting back to socialising, sewing, crafts and decorating.

What TV show do you binge watch?

My last TV binge watch was the Walking Dead

 

Adam McDonald – Aberdeen – Apprentice Engineer SIA

 

What attracted you to the role?

The ability to work with my hands and the friendly environment at SIA Aberdeen.

What is your previous experience?

Little to none, I’m coming in as an apprentice, but I can’t wait to get going and learn.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

Improving my skills and knowledge.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I really enjoy playing pool and coding when I have time.

What TV show do you binge watch?

Don't watch TV

 

Graham Wilson – Muir of Ord – Parts Sales Advisor

 

What attracted you to the role?   

The opportunity to work for Scot JCB. They have a great reputation and are well known.

What is your previous experience?

I have worked both in sales and in parts before joining Scot JCB.

What are you looking forward to about the role?

I’m looking forward to being part of a good team and improving my knowledge on our machinery brands.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy gardening and football

What TV show do you binge watch?

Ozark
