Meet our newest recruits!

In July we had new team members join in Parts, Service, Marketing, and IT.  We caught up with some of our newstarts to find out a bit more about them.

Robert Harcus  - Service Engineer- Muir of Ord

What did you do before joining your new role?

Before joining Scot JCB I work at Volvo Truck and bus as a HGV technician.

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

I have worked on plant and agricultural machinery before and I really enjoyed it, so when I got the opportunity to come and work for Scot JCB I knew I couldn't turn it down. Scot JCB are such an established company who invest so much into their employees as well as the benefits they give to their employees to. It really was a no brainer to join!

What are you looking forward to most in your role?

I am looking forward to expanding my mechanical knowledge through Scot Jcb working on the many products they supply and supply our customers with the best service.

When you're away from work, what do you like to do?

My family own and work a small croft in the black Isle so most of my spare time is taken up with looking after our livestock and machinery. But when i have some spare time I do enjoy going out mountain biking and fishing. If I'm not doing either of those things I'm at home with my fiancé and my new border collie puppy Maeve.

What's a TV show, Movie, or Music artist you think everyone should watch/listen too?

A TV show that I enjoy watching must be either the grand tour or Clarkson farm as they're both hilarious shows.

What an interesting fact about you that people might not know about you when they first meet you?

I have coeliac disease with means I am allergic to gluten which can be found in wheat and barley.

Faye Gilbert – Parts Sales Advisor – Muir of Ord

What did you do before joining your new role?

“I have had a few roles since leaving school including sales advisor, stock worker, tractor driver, welfare driver but parts are where I excel. My most recent job was managing internal parts for 2 years at a large haulage company, but I missed working with customers. I have a knack for information retention which comes in handy when old Johnny from mains of such and such comes in asking if I remember that part, I gave him for his old loadall sometime round about 3 heirsts ago.”

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

“As I said I worked in internal HGV parts, and I missed working with the customers and face to face sales. There’s always a good bit of job satisfaction. I also missed agricultural parts and the challenge you get with them. I just love a challenge. Not to mention the reputation Scot JCB holds as an employer.”

What are you looking forward to most in your role?

“Just the job satisfaction you get when you succeed at finding a difficult part and send the customer on their way. I love being organised and I enjoy a bit of stock checking every now and again.”

When you're away from work, what do you like to do?

“I spend a lot of time on the family farm at home with the coos and tractor work. I also have my two horses which keep me on my toes, and I like going for walks with my dog and nights out especially the county shows and highland games.”

What's a TV show, Movie, or Music artist you think everyone should watch/listen too?

“I don’t watch a lot of tv or movies, but I do keep up with Jeremy Clarkson’s farm. As for music I’m a big country fan, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Chase Rice, Maddie & Tae, but one look at my Spotify playlist and you will see it jumps from country to EDM and GBX remixes with a little Ed Sheeran in between. That’s why I named it a roller coaster of emotions.”

What an interesting fact about you that people might not know about you when they first meet you?

“I can actually operate a tractor and not just drive it; I don’t really know why that still surprises people, but I love the look they get on their face when I reverse a 14 tonne bogie somewhere they don’t think I can.”

Eve Connolly – Trainee Marketing Assistant – Glasgow

What did you do before joining your new role?

“Before my new role, I was a student working towards a HND in Business at the City of Glasgow College, specialising in marketing, HR and business law in addition to working part-time in retail.”

What attracted you to come and work in your role?

“Gaining experience in a marketing role utilising my qualification from college is what attracted me to come and work at Scot JCB. Moreover, Scot JCB’s excellent reputation in the industry was another factor that attracted me to this role.”

What are you looking forward to most in your role?

“I am looking forward to gaining experience in the world of marketing and applying any knowledge and skills I have obtained in college into my role.”

When you're away from work, what do you like to do?

“When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and going to concerts.”

What's a TV show, Movie, or Music artist you think everyone should watch/listen too?

“I think everyone should watch Suits the TV show because it’s funny and a good one to binge more than once.”

What an interesting fact about you that people might not know about you when they first meet you?

“I can play three instruments! Guitar, bass guitar and drums.”
