Introducing the JCB 9T DualDrive Site Dumper: A New Era of Site Safety

JCB is bringing its ground-breaking rotating-cab technology to the heavy dumper market with the official launch of the 9T DualDrive site dumper. Available in both front tip and swivel skip configurations, Scot JCB is proud to introduce this safety-first 9-tonne machine across our extensive depot network.
Reversing a traditional site dumper for half the day causes severe neck strain, creates blind spots over the shoulder, and introduces significant site risks. The 9T DualDrive eliminates this completely by allowing the operator to rotate the entire seat and controls through 180° to face the direction of travel.
The end result is a dumper with class-leading visibility, the largest and quietest cab in its class, and a serious step forward in site safety.

What is DualDrive Technology?

Already proven on JCB’s flagship backhoe loaders, the DualDrive concept allows the machine to be driven forwards in either direction.

Instead of twisting around or fumbling with hand levers, the operator simply uses JCB's intuitive heel click system to release the lock. The seat unit smoothly pivots 180°, allowing the operator's hands to always remain firmly on the steering wheel and joystick controls.

It is the ideal addition to fleets operating across:

  • Major Highways & Infrastructure: Where narrow, single-lane roadworks sections require heavy hauling without the space to physically turn a machine around.
  • Civil Engineering & Groundworks: High-volume sites with heavy, continuous two-way traffic between the loading excavator and the tip point.
  • Safety-Critical Operations: Any site where pedestrians and heavy plant share the same active travel routes, making maximum operator visibility business-critical.

Key Features of the 9T DualDrive: Safety Meets Structural Strength

Engineered for site safety, operator comfort and total fleet value, the 9T DualDrive packs a serious specification.

  • DualDrive: Centrally mounted air-suspension seat with 180° rotation via JCB’s heel click system, keeping the operator’s hands on the controls at all times.
  • Safety First: Seat lock inhibit system disables the driveline and hydraulics until the seat is locked in a driving position.
  • Impact Tested: Cab tested to withstand the forces of a 20-tonne excavator for a serious safety margin on busy sites.
  • Largest, Quietest Cab: Flat glazing and all-steel panels keep replacement costs down, with the lowest noise levels and largest interior space on the market.
  • New Transmission: Two-speed hydrostatic transmission driving both axles for maximum traction, with a boosted brake system to reduce driver effort.
  • Stage V Power: 55kW (74hp) JCB DieselMAX engine with a 30kph top speed.
  • Operator-Ready: 7” touchscreen display, additional in-cab storage and follow-me-home work lights as standard.
  • Site Security: Thatcham-approved keypad immobiliser fitted as standard.

Built for Site Safety

Site dumpers are involved in a high share of construction site incidents, and the 9T DualDrive has been engineered with that record firmly in mind.

  • Impact Resistance: The cab is impact tested to withstand the forces of a 20-tonne excavator, giving operators a serious safety margin in the event of a strike on site.
  • Follow-Me-Home Lighting: Work lights stay on after the engine is switched off so operators can climb down in the dark without fumbling for a torch.
  • Anti-Theft: Thatcham-approved keypad immobiliser comes as standard for site and yard security.

Comfort and Visibility

With the largest interior space and the lowest noise levels on the market, the 9T DualDrive cab is built for long shifts. Flat glazing and all-steel panels keep replacement costs down when the inevitable knock happens.

Inside, the operator gets a 7” touchscreen display, a radio and additional storage for tools, paperwork and personal items. The centrally mounted seat keeps the operator equidistant from every window, and with no rear-facing reverses needed, neck and shoulder strain is dramatically reduced over the course of a shift.

Ideal Applications for the 9T DualDrive

  • Housebuilding and Urban Developments: Where operators are constantly reversing in confined spaces.
  • Civil Engineering and Groundworks: Sites with heavy two-way movement between loading point and tip.
  • Quarries and Aggregates Yards: Boosted braking and two-speed drive suit slope work.
  • Utilities and Infrastructure: Projects where pedestrians and plant share the same routes.
  • Safety-Critical Operations: Any site where operator visibility and reversing safety are business-critical.
