This week we would like you to meet our newest Agricultural Sales Engineer in the South, Chris Higgins.

Chris started with us at the end of January this year and has taken over our Southern Scotland patch from Innes Carruthers, based in our Dumfries depot. Chris covers from Stranraer to Gretna and from Beattock to just south of Girvan.

Chris was previously a mechanic working with HGVs however he grew up in rural Dumfries and was involved with the Young Farmers and agriculture from a young age. Chris had been looking for a move to Sales for a while so when this opportunity came up he jumped at it “I love the JCB product line within Agriculture and although there is a lot to learn I am really enjoying getting out and meeting customers and getting to know their business needs. Scot JCB are a really supportive company and I feel like everyone has made me feel very welcome since I started.”

Since starting he has been working with Area Manager for the South, Steven Hunter who has been giving him any guidance and support that has been needed while Chris finds his feet.

“I’m looking forward to Spring and Summer when there are quite a few events in the area which will give me the chance to meet more people. I have been going to the Royal Highland Show for years as a punter, but this will be the first year I am working at it. It is a great opportunity for us to show off the latest JCB ag machinery.”

Away from work Chris enjoys going out for walks with his fiancée, daughter and dog. He also loves skiing but says that after becoming a dad it is a bit trickier to get out on the slopes.

Good luck Chris!
