Meet our new team members from June

In June, we had five new members join the Scot JCB Group in Parts, Office, and Service roles. We caught up with them to find out how they are getting on in their new roles.

Syed Banoori - Compressor Engineer - SIA Glasgow

What did you do before joining your new role?

I just moved to the UK in March of this year. Lived in Germany before moving here.

What attracted you to come and work in your role?
First of all, the name, JCB!
I have worked in a similar role before and it was something I really liked doing. The job responsibilities here are almost exactly the same so has been a very smooth transition so far.

What are you looking forward to most in your role?
Adding more to the little knowledge I have about machines, the satisfaction of fixing them, getting to know my team, and exploring all the different and beautiful places in Scotland on my travels.

When you're away from work, what do you like to do?
I mostly relax and stay in during the weekdays watching tv or playing games. The weekends are for family trips which includes camping, picnics, a nice long drive to get a bite to eat or just relax and soak in the sun by the beach.

What's a TV show, Movie, or Music artist you think everyone should watch/listen to?
Since I like being around automobiles, I can only recommend auto shows (haha). ‘The Grand Tour’ and ‘James May’s Travel’ series would be my picks.
For movies I would recommend ‘Ford vs Ferrari’, ‘Rush’ and the famous ‘The Shawshank Redemption’
I really love the 80’s decade of music so all the artists from that era would be my choice of listening.

What an interesting fact about you that people might not know about you when they first meet you?
That I can speak 5 languages.

Stephen Peden - Service Engineer - Glasgow

What did you do before joining your new role? Before joining Scot JCB I served my time with
Molson Young Plant Sales where I moved from apprentice to field engineer and worked on various types of equipment including Kobelco excavators, Rokbak dump trucks, Thwaites dumpers, Sennebogen material handlers and Ammann rollers.

What attracted you to come and work in your role? When I found out that Scot JCB were recruiting for a service engineer I was drawn to this role because I had heard from many people about the training that the company offers to the employees and I felt that this training will allow me to be the best engineer that I possibly can be.

What are you looking forward to most in your role? I am looking forward to maintaining the JCB product and helping our customers achieve the best from the equipment they buy from us.

When you’re away from work, what do you like to do? During my spare time, I like to go out in my car and take it along to car shows. I also like to play pool or go fishing

What’s a TV show, Movie, or music artist you think everyone should watch/listen to? A TV show I feel everyone must see at least once is only fools and horses.

What is an interesting fact about you that people might not know about you when they first meet you? When I was in high school I was a competitive swimmer as part of a local swimming club where I took part in many competitions and won many medals for my performances.
