JCB Rollers
JCB’s range of tandem rollers includes four models—CT160, CT260, CT380, and CT430—offering operating weights between 1,710 kg and 4,500 kg, and drum widths ranging from 800 mm to 1,400 mm. Designed to perform efficiently on both aggregates and asphalt, each model provides high centrifugal forces and optimised static linear loads to ensure optimal compaction results. For enhanced user experience, JCB has incorporated an intuitive control layout that simplifies operation, allowing even novice operators to handle the machine with ease.
Equipped with fuel-efficient EU Stage V and EPA T4F compliant engines, the CT160 and CT260 models use Kubota engines, while the CT380 and CT430 are powered by Kohler engines. This ensures a balance between high power and low emissions, making these rollers suitable for use in environmentally regulated areas. To maintain water coverage on the drums, each model features a pressurised water sprinkler system with upward-facing nozzles, reducing downtime due to clogging and ensuring continuous operation. Additionally, the machine’s drum offset capability improves compaction efficiency and delivers a smoother finish with chamfered drum edges.
Powering the VM118D single drum soil compactor is JCB’s 430 diesel engine, producing 55kW. Uniquely, this engine meets emission standards without the need for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). This makes it the world’s first and only Stage V or Tier 4 soil compactor over 10 tonnes that operates without DEF, reducing cost and complexity and making the machine simpler to run and maintain for customers.
The high-torque engine drives through a 4-mode traction system, offering work, travel, gradient and PD shell settings. This delivers up to a 55% gradient climbing capability. The vibratory drum offers 32Hz and 36Hz frequencies and a choice of two amplitudes: 1.8mm and 0.8mm. There are also two centrifugal force settings on offer: 256kN and 147kN.
